The First Imperial Egg by Peter Carl Fabergé is stunning in its simplicity of style, materials and concept. Unlike many of the later Fabergé eggs, which were complex creations of intricate jeweled work, this egg is pure white on the outside.
The inside contains a "surprise" golden Yolk and a second "surprise" inside the yolk, in the shape of a gold chicken with ruby eyes.
